Consultation
At this visit, we will be reviewing the x-rays, models, and photographs that were taken at your last appointment. We will discuss treatment alternatives and answer questions regarding treatment, office policies, and insurance.
Cephalometric Digital Radiograph
This x-ray allows your orthodontist to study your upper and lower jaws and how growth of your jaws is related to your treatment.
Panoramic Digital Radiograph
This x-ray allows your orthodontist to study all of the teeth, whether they have erupted or not, and also the roots of the teeth.
Digital Photographs
Digital Photographs are taken of your face and teeth at the records appointment. Your orthodontist studies your smile, teeth, and profile.
Impressions
The impressions material is a soft, putty-like material that is placed in a tray. That tray fits over your teeth. Within a minute it becomes hard like rubber. A mold of your teeth is made from this impression.
Banding
In most cases, the molars will be fitted with bands. Bands are metal rings that fit around the molars like a ring around your finger. They come in all different sizes, just like teeth.
Bonding
Bonding is another word for adhering to. The braces are bonded to your teeth. Each bracket is placed in a certain position on the tooth. This is a very easy appointment.
Orthodontic Adjustment
Every eight to twelve weeks your braces will need adjusting. This series of adjustments moves the teeth over the course of treatment. The end result: A great looking and functional smile.
Debanding
An exciting day! The day your braces are removed and you can show your beautiful smile. This phase of your care is very important to maintain your tooth position. We recommend retention for life!
